Christopher Kypros, piano

Christopher is a native of Norfolk, VA. His undergraduate years were spent at Old Dominion University. He earned his Master of Music from the Juilliard School in New York City. He has had the uncommon opportunity and extraordinary experience of collaborating with many gifted artists in various venues as an actor, piano soloist, chamber musician, music director, conductor, teacher, author, and composer. He is truly grateful for the enriching benefits and qualities of each personal musical and theatrical association.

In the realm of Greek Orthodox Church music, Christopher has been honored with the St. Paul, St. Romanos, and Patriarch Athenagoras Medals. Since the 1980s, he has guest-conducted at many choir federation conferences. In Autumn 2020, Christopher led the webinar series, Singing With and For Spiritual Vitality, and in Winter 2021 he led a second series entitiled Coming Back Strong in Voice and Spirit. Among his original compositions are three settings of the Divine Liturgy. Two are in Greek: the Liturgy of Peace and the Liturgy of Hope. The most recent, the Liturgy of Light, is set in the English language. Christopher is serving in his 49th year as Choir Director and Organist at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Norfolk, VA.
